Scholarships
The Ministry of Education Scholarship and Educational Loan Division was established in its current form in 2003 to encourage and support Bahamian students in their pursuit of college, university, vocational and graduate school education through financial aid advising and the granting of scholarships.
The All Bahamas Merit Scholarship Programme
The All Bahamas Merit Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship awarded to a single Bahamian candidate. In order to be considered for this award, applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 and above, a minimum of eight (8) BGCSEs with at least eight (8) "A" passes and a SAT score of 1220 or higher or an ACT score of 25 or higher. The applicant must also be exceptionally well rounded and have applied to or been accepted to an academically prestigious international college or university. The scholarship has a maximum value of $35,000.00 per year, for up to five years, and is tenable at accredited international colleges and universities. Please note, Bahamian high school graduates may still be eligible for this scholarship if they continue in any high school extension programme (approved by the committee) for a maximum of two years. These students must apply for consideration at the end of their second year.
The National Merit Scholarship Programme
The National Merit Scholarship is the second highest level of merit scholarship awarded by the Government of The Bahamas, and can be awarded to multiple Bahamian applicants. Candidates must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and above, achieve a SAT score of 1220 or higher or an ACT of 25 or higher and possess a minimum of seven (7) BGCSE "A" passes. Candidates must have applied or been accepted to an academically prestigious international college or university. The scholarship has a value of up to $25,000.00 per year, for up to four (4) years and is tenable at accredited international universities, colleges or institutions.
The National Academic Scholarship
The National Academic Scholarship is a scholarship awarded to well-rounded candidates with an overall GPA of 3.0 or above and whom possess a minimum of five (5) BGCSE "A” passes. The applicant must be accepted to an approved international accredited college or university. The applicant must demonstrate and must pursue a course of study that meets with national development goals. The award has a maximum value of $10,000.00 per annum and is renewable for up to four (4) years of study.
The National Technical Scholarship
The National Technical Scholarship is a scholarship awarded to Bahamian students who wish to pursue a certification course in a technical or vocational field. Award recipients are selected on the basis of academic success at the high school or college level. This scholarship has a maximum value of $7,500.00 per annum, for studies at approved and accredited technical programmes abroad, and $2,000 for applicants who wish to pursue studies locally at the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI). It is renewable for up to four (4) years of study. Candidates pursuing certificate courses or associates degrees must have a GPA of 2.5 or above and pursue a course of study that meets with national development goals. Candidates pursuing bachelor's degrees in technical fields must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and must also be accepted to a programme that meets with national development goals.

The National Tuition Assistance Scholarship
The National Tuition Assistance, formerly known as the National Grant is awarded to Bahamian students and is intended to assist high school graduates or persons who are currently pursuing professional, technical, graduate or post graduate degree studies. Award recipients are selected on the basis of academic success at the high school or college level, and financial need. High school graduates must possess a GPA of 3.0 or above and a minimum of five (5) BGCSEs with a grade of "C” or higher. Those currently in college must possess a GPA of 3.0 or above. This grant has a maximum value of $7,500.00 per annum at internationally accredited institutions, colleges and universities or $4,000.00 for local institutions, and is renewable for up to four (4) years of study at accredited local and international universities, colleges, and technical and vocational institutions. Successful candidates must pursue a course of study that meets with national development goals, at the undergraduate or graduate level.

The Public School Scholars Programme
The Public School Scholars Programme was instituted in 2015 to promote college readiness, equity and college access in the public school system. Ministry of Education, Technical & Vocational Training will offer guaranteed scholarship awards for each Bahamian high school graduate enrolled in the programme. The award will range from $7,500.00 but will not exceed $15,000.00 per academic year, for a maximum of four (4) years. Partnering institutions are required to offer a matching grant of equal or higher value. Eligible candidates must be officially recommended by their secondary high schools and meet the admissions requirement of the institution. Candidates must have a genuine interest in a career of national priority, outstanding leadership and character traits, proof of extracurricular involvement and contributions to their school community. Scholarship applicants must also demonstrate financial need and a genuine desire to pursue a college / university education. First preference is given to first generation college students and students attending college within one year of graduating from high school. Qualified Bahamian public high school candidates must apply or be accepted to partnering colleges and universities. Students must also pass an interview. Our first cohort of bachelor's degree scholars graduated in June of 2018.
The Gerace Research Centre Scholarship
The Gerace Research Centre Scholarship is awarded to Bahamian students, by an association of colleges and universities in the United States in co-operation with Ministry of Education, Technical & Vocational Training. Presently, some sixteen colleges and universities offer tuition scholarships. Participating Colleges and Universities will offer full and partial tuition scholarships and Ministry of Education, Technical & Vocational Training will pay room and board charges. Gerace scholarships are available for studies at the bachelor's and master's degree level and have a maximum value of $10,000.00 per year, for a maximum of four (4) years. Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or above and possess a minimum of five (5) BGCSE "C” level passes.

The OAS-Government of The Bahamas Scholarship Programme
The OAS-GoB scholarship is awarded to Bahamian students who wish to pursue technical and academic studies at the graduate or postgraduate level. The MoETVT will award each scholarship recipient $7,500.00 per annum, for a maximum of four years and the OAS shall award each recipient a onetime grant of $1,000.00. Applicants must apply for admission to the areas and levels of study as indicated per participating partner institutions and list of priority areas. Applicants are encouraged to apply for admission to three different participating partner institutions to increase the chances of being granted admission and selected for the scholarship. The OAS has negotiated tuition waivers / discounts from 20% - 100% with participating partner institutions. For more information on partnering institutions please visit our Facebook page and website.

The PIT-GOB (Private, Independent & Transfer-In - GOB) Scholarship
The PIT-GOB (Private, Independent & Transfer-In - GOB) Scholarships are awarded to Bahamian students, by a Consortium of colleges and universities in the United States and Canada in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Technical & Vocational Training.
The Ministry of Education, Technical & Vocational Training will award each selected Scholarship Recipient $7,500 - $11,000 per annum, for a maximum of four (4) years and participating Colleges and Universities will offer tuition waivers. Scholarships are available for studies at the Bachelor's Degree level.
Applicants must be 12th grade students in a Bahamian private/independent High School (including Home Schools) or undergraduate students transferring from Tertiary Institutions. High School Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and possess a minimum of five (5) BGCSE passes at “C” grade or above. Tertiary students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
Please note that there is a finite number of scholarships awarded after recommendation from each institution annually.

The Student Athlete Track & Field Grant
The Track & Field Student Athlete Grant recipients are selected on the basis of the applicants ability to obtain a partial athletic scholarship from an accredited College or University in the USA or Canada and the recommendation of the Bahamas Parents Association of Track & Field Athletes (BPATFA).

1. Register

2. Login
Login to the award with your email and password.
3. Create
Create your online application. For a list of required information and attachments, please review the guidelines on the Ministry of Education website - www.scholarshipsbahamas.com.
4. Save
During the Applications period, your application can be saved as DRAFT until all the required information is completed and attachments uploaded. As each section is complete, you will see a appear in the category tab when the application is saved. At any time, you can download and print your application by clicking on the icon in the Application Summary section.
5. Submit
On completion, save your application as FINAL. Download and print a copy of your application for your records by clicking on the icon in the Application Summary section in the right column. Note: If an update is required prior to the Call for Applications period, you can make the update and resave as FINAL.
